AI Survey Analysis That Looks Beyond the Stats

Read every data table, cross-break and open end as one data set, layer in any qual you hold, and find the hidden patterns the numbers alone don’t show.

BEYOND THE STATS

Beyond the stats, not just faster stats

Survey platforms and generic AI survey analysis tools are good at reporting what the data shows: toplines, charts and a summary of what moved. Your clients can already see the numbers. Our AI Analyser is trained to go further: to the hidden patterns behind the numbers, what might explain them, and what the client should do about it.

What the stats say, and what the Analyser asks next

WHAT THE STATS SAYWHAT THE ANALYSER ASKS NEXT
72% of customers are satisfied
Why is satisfaction high while loyalty is falling?
Younger consumers prefer Brand A
Is age the real driver, or is it income, lifestyle or usage?
Price is the biggest purchase barrier
Is price the problem, or do customers who see little difference between brands simply default to it?
Brand awareness is rising
Why isn’t more awareness turning into consideration?

THE STATS

Intend to buy again39%
Price is the most-mentioned barrier
THE OBVIOUS READINGPrice is hurting loyalty.
LOOKING FURTHERPrice sensitivity is highest among customers who see little difference between brands. Those who link the brand to a distinctive benefit stay loyal, even when they find it expensive.
THE INSIGHTThe brand may not have a price problem. It may have a distinctiveness problem.

ONE DATA SET

What it analyzes

Survey data tables and cross-breaks, tracker waves, segmentation outputs and open-ended verbatims, plus client documents, sales data and previous studies, all read as one data set. Upload files as Excel, PDF, Word or PowerPoint, as you hold them, with no templates or pre-work. SPSS support is coming soon.

03

Read against the decision

Each objective mapped to the questions that measure it

If the survey was designed in Insightology, the Analyser inherits the objectives, the methodology and the questionnaire from the AI survey design stage, so AI survey data analysis starts from the question the client is paying to answer. It maps each objective to the questions that measure it and reads the results against the decision, not as a pile of tables. Design and analysis run as one survey analysis workflow.

SURVEY DESIGNED ELSEWHERE?Add the client brief and the questionnaire with the data, then tell the Analyser what the client needs to decide and which hypotheses to test.

80+ INSIGHT LENSES

Beyond the stats: what it looks for

This is AI quantitative data analysis that reads the data the way a senior researcher does, using more than 80 insight lenses the model is trained on, including:

Hidden splits

Segments whose views cancel each other out in the total, so one flat score hides two different stories.

Tensions and contradictions

Between what people say matters and how they rate, choose or behave, within one respondent or between segments.

Outliers that matter

The small group or single response that explains the pattern, flagged rather than averaged away.

Connections and interactions

Links between answers in different parts of the questionnaire, and drivers that only matter for some groups, such as trust mattering more to occasional buyers than regular ones.

Absences

What nobody chose, rated or mentioned, because the silence is data too.

OPEN ENDS

The full power of open ends

Open ends are often the richest part of a survey and the least used: coded late, summarized in a chart, then left in the appendix. The Analyser codes every verbatim to one consistent frame and reads it against the closed questions, so the open ends explain the numbers instead of sitting beside them. For verbatim coding on its own, see open-ended survey analysis.

Every verbatim coded: thousands of responses coded to one consistent frame, with no drift between batches.
Read against the closed data: which segments said what, and how their reasons line up with their ratings.
The why behind the what: open ends used to explain the movements, splits and outliers in the numbers.

LAYER IN QUAL

Layer in any qual, including studies you already hold

Add interview and focus group transcripts from the same project, or previous qual studies the client already has, and the Analyser reads them alongside the survey. A pattern in the numbers can be explained by something people said in interviews, and a belief from earlier qual can be tested against today’s survey. Upload them as you hold them: no templates, no recoding.

Same-project qual: interviews or groups run alongside the survey, analyzed with it rather than in a separate deck.
Previous client studies: past qual reports and transcripts the client already owns, put back to work to explain today’s numbers.

For projects designed around both, see mixed-methods research. For qual on its own, see AI qualitative data analysis.

WHAT YOU GET

Key outputs

01

Topline summary

Ready for you to review within minutes of the data going in.

02

Insight analysis

Findings that explain the numbers, not just restate them.

03

Segment and cross-break findings

Where groups differ, and the open-end and qual evidence that explains why.

04

Alternative interpretations

Each one with the evidence that supports that reading.

05

Hypotheses tested

The evidence for and against each hypothesis or question you set.

06

Strategic implications

What the client should do and why, supported by the data.

TRACEABILITY

Every number computed, every finding traced

Every figure is computed from your data with its base shown, not predicted as text, and every finding links to the table, row or verbatim behind it. The Analyser keeps what the data shows separate from what might explain it, so a possible explanation is never presented as a proven cause, and small bases and counter-evidence are flagged rather than smoothed over.

It won’t find what isn’t in the data, but it finds meaning that isn’t obvious from it.

You can test a hypothesis, refine an output or discard a weak finding, and when a client asks how you know, there is an audit trail rather than a chat log. The researcher directs the analysis and owns the interpretation; AI quantitative research analysis widens what you can see, not who decides what it means.

WHERE IT FITS

Use cases

01

AI cross-tab analysis

Every cross-break interrogated, with the splits that matter surfaced and explained.

02

AI tracker analysis

With trackers it is often hard to see what has really moved, let alone why. The Analyser reads each wave against the last, flags early change before it becomes a trend, and finds more of the why, especially when you layer in other sources such as social listening, customer feedback and customer queries.

03

Segmentation studies

Segment profiles brought to life with open ends and any qual you hold.

04

Usage and attitude and brand studies

What people say, what they do, and the gap between the two.

SPECIALIST, NOT GENERIC

Why not a generic assistant, or your survey platform’s AI?

Generic AI assistants read long data files in batches, predict numbers as text unless code is run, and are pulled to the average. The AI built into survey data analysis software is designed to summarize the survey it sits in. Insightology’s AI survey analysis is built for agency work: it computes every figure from your data, reads tables, open ends, earlier waves and qual as one set, and runs purpose-built passes for hidden splits, tensions and outliers. Through the Agency Vault, it also learns your agency’s best-practice analysis approaches and tools.

FAQ

Questions agencies ask

It depends on the tool. Generic AI tools often predict numbers rather than calculate them. The Analyser computes every figure from your data, shows the base, and flags anything uncertain so you can check it against the raw data.
